Subhash Chandra Bose Academy, Nathuwawala is situated in foot hills of Shivalik mountain range in the rural block Doiwala of district Dehradun at the bank of river Soang. The school was established by the inspiration of Indian National Army Freedom Fighters Late Capt. Himmat Singh Negi, Late Mr. Kunwar Singh Butola and Senior Citizen Mr. Narayan Singh Negi.
The School is affiliated to CBSE New Delhi upto Senior Secondary and run by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Educational Society to provide quality education to the rural children of village Nathuwawala and surrounding villages.
As for the CBSE objectives, the school is approaching holistically including multi skilled developing programs for example six sports activities indoor as well as outdoor (activities- cricket, basket ball, volley ball, T.T, carom, chess, badminton), skilled based game to enhance their inter & interpersonal skill, outing to give them practical and field knowledge as we know that children learn more by doing and visualization (for example- geographical tour to insert geological term in field, industrial visit to introduce managerial and production skill, camping to built their confidence & to make them daring, National park, amusement park, river site picnic extra). To enhance creativity level fine arts and craft works (SUPW) is regularly conducted, for the mental peace and attention musical instruments is also enjoyed by the students as extracurricular activities, to make the children responsible towards the society and nation a social welfare program is conducted every year in which students donate necessary items to the needy people in leprosy center, orphanage child care center, old age center etc. by their self effort achieved financial support from well to do families. As subject education is elite part of school curriculum we prefer project based learning (PBL) mainly in science subjects.
A very well furnished library with reference books, story books, comics and magazines, daily newspapers are available in the school for students and teachers to develop the reading habit. Quarterly Medical checkup is carried out by an M.B.B.S. doctor in the school premises. Students are given tips about their health hygiene and cleanliness. Small scripts are played in assembly by the students once in a week to enrich moral values, Indian cultural heritage and environmental awareness. Educational CDs are shown to the students on computer and television. School is providing free education to the intelligent students of BPL Families. With the co-operation of parents, teachers and students school is firm and determined to develop a knowledgeable society in the rural area.
